A Blueprint for a Poem I Need to Write
A Title Capturing its Heart
An effort to write in rhymes,
a semblance of
metre,
an eventual abandoning of all, settling
for an uncertain rhythm.
A theme a topic an idea a thought
of depth, value, beauty;
a specials menu for each day perhaps:
Monday for the psyche,
Tuesday for society,
Wednesday for the abstract,
Thursday for self-pity,
Friday for vanity,
Saturday for friendship,
Sunday for you.
Slabs of observation, handpicked,
whittled down,
chopped into pieces,
sliced fine—
a swish of sauce
and served to dine.
A cocktail of craft for the connoisseur,
a mocktail of absurdity for the teehee-bottler.
A loud hyperbole for the inattentive,
an understated underhand for the sake of subtlety.
Questions to the powerful,
caresses to the trodden,
comfort to the treading.
A rise, a swirl of meaning-
-less fumes to obscure, obfuscate,
lead the reader down their own path
and claim it part of the design.
An anon
non-ending,
memorable enough to be shared forward,
open-toed and loosely strapped, easy
to slide into
for the next reader.
